Strabismus (squint)

Strabismus surgery currently is not part of the spectrum of diseases regularly treated at our institution since in ambulatory surgery the remuneration for public health patients in Bremen only covers a fraction of the actual cost. Most children in Bremen with a strabismus problem unfortunately have to spend a few days in a hospital.

We are exerting massive efforts to change this situation since in our view it is a violation of children's rights and a massive waste of ressources.

Patients who nevertheless are looking for a highly qualified ambulatory care in strabismus surgery can contact Dr. med. Ihab El-Bably in the Schiel-Zentrum Bremen. Dr. El-Bably has been directing the strabismus department of the Klinikum Bremen Mitte in past years and is an known in Bremen and beyond Bremen's borders as an excellent stabismus expert and surgeon.
